The Yuz Museum is built in a former airplane hangar of the old Longhua Airport. Situated at the corner of Longteng Ave and Fenggu Rd, the Yuz Museum's enormous, open gallery, comprises 3,000 of the museum's 9,000 square meters of floor space. Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto's sweeping design of the property lends a sense of unmitigated grandeur and expanse to the magnificent installations within.
Open since May 2014, the Yuz Museum has been at the forefront of Shanghai's vibrant cultural movement: the galleries and exhibitions, many of them interactive, invite art-lovers from China and overseas to experience a union of Chinese and Western contemporary art. The museum's cafs and shops round out its dynamic cultural presence in West Bund.
